For more than 30 years, protective apparel from DuPont NOMEX® fiber has provided superior thermal protection from flames, flash fires and electric arcs. The unique molecular structure of the NOMEX® fiber makes it inherently flame resistant. Garments of NOMEX® protect workers in the petroleum, petrochimical, electronic and gas utility industries. The effectiveness of NOMEX® has been proven and documented in laboratories, field tests and real-life flash fire and electric arc situations. Garments made of NOMEX® consistently provide outstanding thermal performance because the NOMEX® fiber:

• Is inherently flame resistant
• Does not burn,melt or drip
• Provides permanent protection that won’t wash out or wear away
• Resist break open and maintains a stable, inert barrier between the fire and skin, protecting the wearer from direct exposure
• Forms a tough, protective barrier when exposed to flame, and the garment itself stays supple until it cools

Normal home, commercial and industrial laundering and dry cleaning techniques are suitable. Because the flame-resistant protection is an inherant part of the NOMEX® fiber, it cannot be washed or worn out. Garment made of NOMEX® are extremely durable and stand up well to repeated launderings and use.Fabrics made of NOMEX®have very low initial shrinkage (1% to 3%) and maintain their size and shape over the life of the garment. In order to preserve garment strength and prolong garment life, chlorine bleach should not be used on garments of NOMEX®.
